Letters take the stage
Letters will always take center stage in a story. How could they not? But not all my stories star the alphabet. I’m always thinking about skills and practices that help early learners get a jump on reading readiness. Whether my characters are from the bottom of the sea or neighbors of the moon, I hope they will always make kiddos smile on their journeys to become epic readers.

The Epic Battle of Little b and Little d
The Epic Battle of Little b and Little d is my first published work. I had a good time writing a story about how the alphabet got the way we all know and sing it today! I also wanted to write a special book about these two letters, because they look so much alike and they can be confusing to read and write. Last, but not least, I know that pulling in background knowledge is a great way to get readers to connect with a story. Who hasn’t had a dust up with a friendship and needed a little help to set it right again?
